For most of my working life, I followed a pretty traditional path-
graduated university, then got a stable teaching job and a steady income. And for a long time, that felt fine. But as the years went by, something began to feel off. Things weren't getting easier, they were getting harder. Not dramatically or all at once. But there was a growing sense that I was trading more and more of my time…
for something that didn’t really feel as secure or fulfilling as it once did. I began to think, “Is this really it for the next 25 years?” And it was becoming increasingly obvious that the world was changing- how people work, how businesses operate, how opportunities are created. And that gap between where I was and what was changing
was uncomfortable. So I started exploring whether there was a different way. What I found wasn’t a shortcut. It was a way of thinking differently- earning how things work online, building new skills over time, leveraging AI, and creating something step by step, instead of relying on one career path. I’m still on that path now. I'm not here to tell you I made it but to share a more grounded, realistic way forward for people who are starting to question the same things I was.
